Mr. Porter: The Photographer’s Favorite Shot

mr2

When one processes the thought of proper execution when it comes to visual style, the first thing that should come to mind is the creative minds at Mr. Porter; your ultimate destination for men’s style. Mr. Porter hits the street to ask noteworthy creatives in men’s style what their most memorable menswear shot was. From Messrs Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist), Tommy Ton (Jak & Jil), Jonathan Daniel Pryce (Garcon Jon), and other ingenious minds.

During the interview, Scott Schuman begins to delineate on his noteworthy shot, “I think one that happened very early that kind of set the tone was actually outside Gucci. There was a guy with the name of George Cortina. This was very early; this was one of the first shots that really spoke to people.” He continues to describe what Cortina was wearing, “He was just wearing a blue shirt, but it was the way the sleeves were rolled. He’s wearing khakis, but it’s the way he folded the top of the waist over.”

The minds at Mr. Porter are always articulate with their visuals, and this visual seems to really showcase that. Please enjoy what more Scott Schuman has to say, as well as the others Mr. Porter captured.

Whilst observing the editorial, you cannot help but notice the retro source, but it gives the present-day gentleman something to adhere to. Mr. Porter: The Look – Mr. Elijah Wood

elijah

Photographed and filmed by Blair Getz Mezibov, Mr. Porter presents an exclusive look to their impeccable campaign with Elijah Wood. Glorifying their 100th issue, Elijah Wood showcases the menswear retail destination in pure refinement and sophistication. Styled by Gaelle Paul, Wood displays pieces from Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Thom Browne, Lanvin, Junghans x Max Bill, and many more! Mike Hodgkinson of Mr. Porter sat down with the Lord of the Rings actor for an interview, in which he discussed current projects, Simian Records, fashion and shopping.

On How Fashion Fits In to His Life

“Yeah, I suppose fashion is a part of my life. Not in any kind of major way. I think everybody has a costume – I’m pretty simple. I just like things that are relatively classic and timeless.,” Wood tells Mr. Porter.

Simian Records

“I spend more time digging back than I do looking into what’s happening currently. I find it more gratifying – I think it’s harder now to find really great records that you fall in love with. It’s far easier to find something from the past that blows your mind,” Wood continues in discussion of his music label.

Please enjoy images from the shoot, detailed below. Also, for the interview with Mike Hodgkinson, in full, refer to Mr. Porter. You may enjoy a visual from the campaign, in which Wood portrays a discontent employee who decides he is going to go out in style.

Paris Fashion Week: Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2013

louisvuitton_fw13_21

Style Director, Kim Jones, continues to direct the french fashion house that is Louis Vuitton, to excellency. Grasping onto the inspiration from a trip to Bhutan and Nepal, the fall/winter 2013 collection showcases impeccable outerwear, lustrous shoes, gentleman bags, and trendy eyewear. The collection introduced classic fundamentals, but really exhilarated to the highest of levels. The whole show was really quite remarkable. It was much more than a collection, it was a journey; a mountaineering journey to the highest of highs.

One trend that I have been noticing for fall/winter 2013 is the subtle use of animal prints, and Louis Vuitton is keeping with that trend: From the subtle print of leopard, to the animalistic fur accented parka hoods, to the factual “moggy” sweater graphic print, that animal theme ran strong among the collection, but with subtlety. All in all, Louis Vuitton delivered without fault, with elegance and prominent refinement. Please enjoy a selection of images from the collection, detailed below. Also, for more information regarding the brand, please refer to Louis Vuitton.
