The Esquire Network

g4-to-be-rebranded-as-the-esquire-network-on-april-22nd

In February of this year, the Esquire Network was announced to rebrand the G4 network. However, this is not the case. The Esquire Network has officially announced, today, that it will rebrand the female empowered, Style Network. Over the years, the Style Network has overlapped with offerings on E! (71 percent overlap), Bravo (69 percent overlap) and younger-skewing Oxygen (58 percent overlap). By removing the Style Network, the remaining prevalent three women networks will be allowed to better serve their distinctive audiences without the additional level of confusion amongst the brands. By doing this, the Esquire Network will have the availability to launch on a more monumental platform. Style is better suitable within 75 million homes compared to G4’s 62 million.

Style president, Salaam Coleman Smith will remain with the network through the rebranding transition. NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group chairman, Bonnie Hammer, articulated to her staff the following memo, “One of the hallmarks of our success is brand clarity. Our goal has always been delivery of compelling content by means of distinct, complementary brands, each in its clearly defined lane. With Bravo, E! and Oxygen, we offer unique takes on popular culture for an ever-broadening audience, including the all-important female demo. In pursuit of that same demo, Style presents brand overlap within our portfolio. Esquire Network, on the other hand, offers an opportunity to introduce a lifestyle network that speaks to an upscale male audience underserved in the current marketplace.”

Look for the Esquire Network to broadcast on your television on the date of September 23rd.

Jay Z featuring Justin Timberlake: Holy Grail Visual

jay-z-holy-grail-video-650-430

Looks like rap mogul Jay Z is not done with his artistry streak. Last month “Hova” showcased to the world that he could take hip-hop all the way to the art gallery with his “Picasso Baby” performance in which he performed on a loop for several hours. His video for “Holy Grail” featuring the one and only Justin Timberlake seems to be a continuation of Jay’s interest in merging rap with high-culture.

Jay and Justin perform in a deserted mansion full of Grecian busts, champagne glasses, Renaissance paintings and dancers draped in extravagant sheets.  The editing is sleek, the lighting dramatic and the slow motion experimental. Take a look at the video yourself. Did Jay come up with a masterpiece?

Robert Pattinson for Dior Homme: Visual

diorhommevideo

Live fast, die pretty. That’s pretty much the motto for Dior Homme‘s new fragrance for men.

As the face of Dior Homme, Robert Pattinson shows his masculine side, and by masculine we don’t mean disconnected from civilization, building log houses, growing beards and living off the land. We mean he’s kicking ass and taking names as a stylish, rugged man with sophistication who could get any woman he desired. Yeah, that masculine.

This image pairs nicely with the notes this scent carries.

According to the website, “it’s a sensual signature scent enhanced by  woody masculine touches for an unusually subtle sophistication.”

Pattison mixed with the soundtrack of Led Zeppelin helps the promotion embody that since of ruggedness and class that Pattinson’s predecessors like James Dean and Marlon Brando had.

Please enjoy the visual for the Dior Homme Fragrance, starring Robert Pattinson directed by Romain Gavras, detailed below.

GANT: Style Notes by Michael Bastian

1200x624_mb_story-stylenote4

Michael Bastian recently dissected his Fall/Winter 2013 collection for GANT and took four basics every man should have in his closet, how they should wear them and what to pair them with. So, get out those pens and pencils. You’re about to get served some serious style.

The Navy Blazer—The Old Work Horse

“The thing about a navy blazer is you should be able to wear it at least 10 months out of the year, if not 12,” Bastian said. It is one of the most versatile pieces in any man’s closet.

The one Bastian did for GANT has a traditional tailored form with a lightweight fabric embellished with gold buttons—two closure buttons and three cuff buttons.

“You can go to work in [it], you can go out to dinner in [it],” Bastian said. “It always looks right.”

Pair it with jeans, khakis, flannels, polos, corduroys and more. It’s hard to find anything that won’t go with this item.

The Navy Wool Blazer for GANT by Michael Bastian will set you back $695.

The Perfect Cargo—The Lieutenant of Pants

Bastian’s Perfect Cargo is a nod to American military with a modern twist.

“ I never felt I was a cargo guy,” Bastian said. “Mainly, because the cargos out there were so bad.”

Luckily, Bastian had a change of heart when just a couple of seasons ago, he developed a cargo that changed his view. Details were taken straight from the source of military cargos from around the world. These pants are truly authentic. By putting these details on a skinny base, Bastian’s cargos became a “cool dress pant.”

The cotton twill fabric used in these pants will help you stay warm but also be lightweight at the same time. It’s beefy but not chunky. Further, Bastian offers this pant in a multitude of colors, from moleskin to maroon; each pair is garment-dyed and takes the color perfectly.

The Flannel Shirt—The Masculine Machine Wash Standby

Bastian relives his childhood through his flannels, remembering a similar influence from his father and living in upstate New York near Lake Ontario.

He believes a flannel shirt should be one you wear and wear and wear and then wash and wash and wash with absolutely no problem. It’s that one masculine, dense shirt that offers warmth, style and an image of manliness.

Luckily, Bastian offers the flannel in solids and plaids. So, it makes it easy to pair them with a knit tie and a blazer or just a T-shirt. Use it as an over shirt over an oxford and a tie.

“It’s also one of those things where it’s easy to get emotionally attached to,” Bastian said. “Have you ever heard those people ask you if your apartment were on fire, what would you grab? There’s some GANT flannel shirts I think I would grab running out the door.”

The Freedom Flannel Button Down from GANT by Michael Bastian will set you back $175.

The Shetland Suit—The Hold Your Horses Separate Suit

The Shetland Suit offered by GANT by Bastian is a quintessential Norman Rockwell suit that looks fantastic together or as separates. It’s one of those pieces that steps outside of the norms. Wearing it together or in separates makes it look like you spent hours preparing yourself.

The details are what make these pieces. The double vent and soft shoulder as well as the pick stitching are details Bastian uses in his personal line and his GANT line.

“It’s very cool to wear it as a full suit, but remember these two pieces work equally well on their own and can elevate a lot of different kinds of looks,” Bastian said.

The Glencheck Blazer from GANT by Michael Bastian will set you back $795,while the Glencheck Pant will set you back $295

Each piece from Bastian is your own slice of American heritage. Taking these pieces and running with them is the smartest advice to take. They are all staples any man should have in his closet and are sure to last decades.

David Beckham Bodywear x H&M

beckham1

It’s no secret to anyone that David Beckham is one of the most attractive men around. Now, imagine that man in his underwear. Yes, ladies and gents, David Beckham Bodywear has hit the shelves of H&M, and all of our cheeks are a bit redder and our hearts are a bit lighter.

David Beckham brings the connotation of British simplicity and ruggedness that we can all hold ever so close to our bodies. A ruggedness so biblical in nature, the campaign leaves viewers saying nothing but, “Oh. My. God.”

Beckham’s looks aside, his product is quite nice. This bodywear collection contains the perfect amount of simple basics with quality materials at a reasonable price. The collection includes raglan tees, tanks, sweatpants, shorts as well as some high quality tighty whiteys. These are the pieces you will wear all season long either as a background player or a simple statement piece. Trust me, if you work a baseball raglan tee the right way, it can make a statement.

Colors in the collection range from white to gray to black–a nice palette to grow on with basics. Prices amongst the items range anywhere from $14.95 for a basic black tank or white crew neck tee to 34.95 for a pack of three pairs of underwear or a pair of gray sweats.

All in all, David Beckham Bodywear collection is the perfect example of heritage sport clothing brought to modern times. Adding Beckham to the mix just spices it up a bit.

The David Beckham Bodywear colletion for H&M is available in stores and online tomorrow August 22. Please enjoy pictorial images, and a visual, detailed below.

Mr. Porter Style Clinic: How to Add Colour

styleclinic2

As a gentleman of style, you are constantly faced with different ways to amp up your current wardrobe. For those in a style bind, the easiest way to do that is expanding your color horizon. Thankfully, MR PORTER has just the way to do it.

As part of MR PORTER’s Style Clinic, the fabulous people over at MR PORTER have given those seeking it sound advice just on how to subtly begin to add color to your daily wardrobe. Whether that color be added in a bold pattern or in a sleek solid, their video shows just how to do it.

The best way to introduce color is by diving in feet first. Literally. By adding color to your shoes or even your socks and matching it back to a similar subdued color in the pant, it shows that you’re confident enough to rock some colorful kicks but subdued enough to make it look like you’ve been doing it for years.

After you’re comfortable where you’re at on your color journey, it’s time to move it on up–to the torso that is. MR PORTER gives the advice of beginning with blues. With blue having the ability to have so many shade and already being considered a neutral in many of those shades, it’s time to kick it up a bit. By going with a royal blue crew neck along with a slim silhouette, it looks like you really tried without putting much effort. Throw a dark zip-up over the bright shirt so it’s not too overpowering, and you’re ready to go.

Finally, when you’re ready for it, go floral. Floral has been making a huge comeback, despite the way Kim Kardashian used it. But again, like the royal blue, you want to have complimentary subdued pieces on as well so you end up wearing the floral, rather than the floral wearing you. Pair a floral button up with a slim pant, and throw a leather jacket (which never goes out of style by the way) on top, and you look like you’ve spent hours on your outfit. Make sure to tuck the shirt in to give you a streamlined look.

Make sure to take a look at the rest of MR PORTER’s Style Clinic on how to amp up your wardrobe. And remember, just like the addition of color, gradual changes can make all the difference.

Robert Pattinson: Dior Homme Preview

Robert-Pattinson-For-Dior-Homme-Preview2

Luckily for Robert Pattinson, he’s not just a one trick vampire pony. He’s got some class—enough to be working in the new upcoming Dior Homme campaign.

The first look of Pattinson in Dior Homme’s new campaign, shot by Nan Goldin, is indicative of Dior’s classic, sophisticated urban vibe with a twist. Combining both Pattinson and Goldin into the same campaign provides an artistic view into a style that makes many men want to be Pattinson and many women want to be with him.

The campaign offers a simple, almost Americana view of the upcoming campaign through the eyes of Goldin featuring staples Dior is known for including, pictured, a strong camel overcoat as well as a black blazer matched back to a simple black pant and white collared shirt.

The easiness of the clothes that flows through this campaign is matched only by the strength Pattinson and Goldin each bring to the plate. The full Dior Homme campaign is sure to be a strong one if it is anything like the sneak peek released. Please enjoy images and visual, brought to you by Tush Magazine, detailed below.
